Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but fragile characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of our times. Linney was born to a single, unmarried mother who was a nurse. Linney became interested in the theatre during summers spent with her famous father. Her studies in acting were through Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career soon after completing her degree in the year 2000, before making her debut on television the following year. She has been featured on a number of stages, films and television shows since that time. In her long career, she has received several awards. Some of them includes the two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. However, despite all the awards, her passion for theatre remains in her, and she still performs as a stage performer and screen.
