The children were sleeping asleep in their cribs as I was strapped with an infant to my back. Ha! It was all starting to take shape, however it wasn't quite finished. For furnishing the space it would be a huge effort both in both time and funds. Also, I had go to my favorite stores. To keep the budget in check, I started going to estate sales with three brothers to search for diamonds in the rough. We would go from the week of Thursday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new furniture. After that, I stenciled and polished in the driveway throughout the week. My love for furniture repair began with a look that was similar to this. I continued to work on furniture long after we completed the renovation of our home. There was an area on the market to sell items. I could outgrow the area because I had plenty of pieces that I was able to use. There were open houses at my house that saw more than 1 000 visitors would come through in one weekend, and buy anything they saw on the ground floor. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. Apart from my successful business, I also grew our family. It was like I was able to find the perfect equilibrium between motherhood as well as starting my own business. Growing Days seemed like the perfect fit. In 2013, my daughter Nora was our fourth baby. I adored where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed a break. I decided to slow down and spend some time in my home with my children. This was just what I was looking for. It wasn't until a couple of months that the phones started to ring. They were asking for my help in interior decoration and renovations. A majority of them walked into my house during my furniture open houses. It didn't seem long until I had a fully-fledged business for home improvement. The first step was to take clients one by one with a speed I was comfortable with. If you had told me that my venture would end up being the basis for a DIY Network show, I likely would have thought you were crazy. As I reflect back, it makes me laugh.
