April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) started her journey in music at the age of 7 in which she began guitar and piano lessons. In April, when she was 12 years old, she composed her first single called Different. At the age of 14, April spent a lot of time to creating song concepts and practicing her music. Soon after, April started to travel with her dad and write at home in NY or LA. April began including other topics in Take My Hand for those of her peers who struggled in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart also has an ever-growing following as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned Clean Beauty company Ilia. Her disability is a part of her identity, but it's not the entire picture. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't cover up her disability, but it does not concentrate solely on her disability. What is the message? It's this: We all have multiple identities and are way more diverse than we think we are. I don't want that to be the only thing that defines me. I don't wish to become a disability influencer where that's all I discuss because there are other aspects to me Lockhart speaks via video from her home in Nashville. This doesn't influence my day-to-day life. I go about the same way as I always do and have found my own methods to adjust. The same is true for my personality, and that it is something to be talked about. Lockhart is a huge source of inspiration for her female friends regarding acceptance of oneself. Still, she acknowledges going through phases of being uncomfortable with her body, and also feeling uneasy wearing certain clothing styles which showed her arms. Now she wears whatever outfit she wants and posts pictures on her Facebook page with pride. Self-love she said is like a journey. "I don't think you will ever be there," she said. This is, however, common for anyone that is prone to doubts. I think it is important to surround yourself with people who can really see your.
